Welcome to Speech and Cognitive Therapy of Kingstowne

My name is Maimunah Jafer, and I am a certified Speech-Language Pathologist with over 24 years of experience, including acute care and outpatient roles at Inova Fairfax and Alexandria hospitals, and most recently at Fairfax County Public Schools. I was drawn to this field because I value meaningful connection and communication, and I am passionate about helping individuals express themselves and engage with the world around them. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and my master’s degree from Florida State University.

My experience spans working with children in school settings as well as adults in acute care, long-term acute care, outpatient, and home health environments. I have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent pediatric populations, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down Syndrome, as well as adults with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, and dementia.

I love staying active and balanced through Pilates, a big part of my life revolves around cheering on my kids at their soccer and softball games. When I’m not on the sidelines, I enjoy traveling to new places, getting lost in a good book, and spending quality time with my circle of mom friends. I’m always up for discovering and trying out new restaurants in my area, especially when it means great food and even better company.
